Tryon Creek in Lake Oswego

Tryon Creek State Natural Area is a forested park of the kind most cities would envy. Its address is in Portland, 11321 S. Terwilliger Blvd., a short drive from Lake Oswego, and Lake Oswego families use it often.

What Oregon State Parks says

Oregon State Parks describes the natural area as 658 acres of second-growth forest about 15 minutes from downtown Portland. It lists about 8 miles of hiking trails, 8 bridges and a wetland boardwalk, plus 3.5 miles of gravel horse trails and a 3-mile paved bicycle path. Hours change by season: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. from November to February and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. from May to August. The nature center is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A day-use parking permit is required, and a one-day permit can be bought on site. The state posted that restrooms close periodically for upgrades from September 21 to October 31, 2026, with at least one flush toilet open. Check the state page for current notices.
